Colombo Port, Sri Lanka's largest seaport, is located on the country's southwestern coastline near the mouth of the river Kelani. It is one of the busiest container ports in the world, with an annual handling capacity of 7 million TEUs. It ranks among the top 25 ports in the world.

Hambantota port, commonly known as "Magampura" port, is located in Sri Lanka's south. It is near to Asian and European commercial routes, as well as the Suez Canal and the Malacca Strait. These routes are used by more than 39,000 ships and 5,000 oil tankers, saving freight costs and cutting sailing time by three days. It's also the most varied deepwater facility in the country.

Galle port, located on Sri Lanka's southwest coast, is the country's oldest port. It boasts a 320-hectare natural harbor that serves cruise liners and commercial vessels using the east-west trade route. Because to the shallow water depths, big ships cannot dock, reducing cargo flow. Trincomalee port, located on the northeastern coasts of Sri Lanka, features the world's second-largest natural harbour and the deepest harbour in the whole South-East Asian area. It is 10 times larger than Colombo's port and can accommodate ships of any size in its anchoring area. It is the only well-protected harbor on the South Asian peninsula, making it suitable for ship repair and maintenance due to its strategic geographical location and low congestion compared to other Sri Lankan ports.
